About
Classic Pure Vienna
Classic Pure Vienna is an international competition platform based in the heart of Vienna, the world’s classical music capital. Since 2018, our mission has been to discover and support emerging composers and young musicians from around the globe—nurturing artistic individuality and contributing to the future of contemporary classical music.
The competition is organized by Atrium Verein für Kunst, Kultur, Bildung und Integration, a Vienna-based cultural association dedicated to art, culture, education, and intercultural dialogue.
The artistic evaluation is entrusted to an internationally active panel of composers and performers. Among them is Çağrı Beklen, a Vienna-based composer and musician who is among the voting members of the Grammy Awards and actively engaged in international music production. The panel also includes Prof. Dr. Hao Liu, composer, music producer, and music theory researcher, Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he serves as Director of the Ethnic Music Department and Director of the Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence for Music Healing.
Chikara Shiojima, an experienced musician and former long-term professor currently continuing his artistic work at Mersin State Opera, brings extensive pedagogical and performance experience to the panel. Edith Lettner, an Austrian saxophonist, composer, and improviser, contributes her broad artistic experience across jazz, contemporary music, and cross-cultural musical projects, with a particular focus on improvisation and musical dialogue.
Additional jury members such as Emiko Saito, Chaerin Kim, and Barış Can Bilgin further enrich the panel’s diverse artistic perspective, bringing together performance excellence, compositional expertise, academic insight, and international experience.
